Castle Park (2008 - ) (Hits: 1406)

Castle Park

Castle Park is a 25 acre amusement park in Riverside, California, just outside of Los Angeles. The park was opened by Bud Hurlbut in 1976 after completing his career with Knotts Berry Farm, where he designed the popular Calico Mine Ride. The park is heavily themed and landscaped to medieval times and has just over 25 rides, plus four 18 hole miniature golf courses. The park is currently owned by Palace Entertainment and run by General Manager Rolf Paegert.

Their Flying Scooter History. A great dragon descended on the park Memorial Day weekend of 2008 when they debuted Dragon Flyers. The Larson International ride will be placed near the park's Big Top Restaurant. The cars will be painted a dark blue, with a incredibly detailed fire-breathing dragon graphic covering both the front are rear sails. When introduced in 2008, Dragon Flyers was Castle Park's 28th ride.

In a park press release, General Manager Rolf Paegert explained, “The new DragonFlyers ride will give guests of all ages the thrill of flight. Everyone will love it because they can control their own flight and make it as daring and thrilling… or as soaring and graceful as they want. It will quickly become one of the favorite rides in the park. And because each flight is different, our guests will want to ride it again and again.”

Notes from the FAA Community. Here is where we call on the Addict community to share your Dragon Flyers experiences and photos. Registered Addicts can use the upload button at the top of the page to add their photos to the FAA archive. You can send your experiences to FAA@FlyerAddicts.Com

Other Notable Park Rides. Castle Park is well known throughout the Inland Empire as a premiere community-based amusement park. Other ride favorites include the Fireball (also a Larson ride) and Merlin’s Revenge rollercoasters, The Dragons’ Tower, The Log Ride, Sea Dragon and The King’s Crown. Family favorites include the Castle Park Railroad, Antique Cars and a classic 1904 Merry Go Round.

Info on FAA Rating: Criteria

FAA rates Flying Scooters on the following criteria: maintenance, park policies on snapping, location aesthetics, ride theming, negative modifications and motor speed.

Disclaimer on "Snappability" designations:

FAA members follow posted park rules and operator directions. We respect parks that have made the decision to limit the practice of "snapping" the cables on their rides.
